Showing how Scotland's Armed Forces might look after Independence
Scotland's geopolitical position is about to be changed hugely with Brexit. UK defence policy is already changing to reflect this. It is already clear that this will focus even more on Global power projection and expeditionary warfare than on direct defence of the UK. Looking at the the threats Scotland faces it is clear that this stance leaves us more exposed still than in the past.
This site is about how an independent Scotland could better face those needs if you choose it. It is for those that are concerned about how Scotland could and would defend itself after independence but who struggle to visualize the proposals put forward, have doubts about how they might be put together or paid for, or simply wonder what it might mean for them.

This does not claim to be exactly how the defence forces would look, though hopefully they will not be too far out. It takes in to account the previous White Paper on Scotland's Future, policy proposals from the Common Weal and the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) as well as published materials from other commentators with appropriate back grounds. It also looks at the defence forces of near neighbours such as Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Republic of Ireland as well as one from the far side of the World, New Zealand. It takes much that is in common and attempts to make it appear a little more real for you.

The site also sets out to answer some of the more frequently asked questions about why we even need them in the first place, negotiations; affordability; what it means for service personnel and their families, basing; etc.
